Here’s my system: 

Groundwork:

  1. You send me an advance payment (Rs. 2,500/-)to kickstart the process. 
  2. On receipt of the advance, I’ll email you a document that you need to fill in.
  3. You email me your 1) current resume 2) filled-in document.
  4. Once I review your resume and document, I’ll have a focused 30-min call with you. (1st call; 30-mins)

1st Draft:

  1. I’ll send you the 1st draft of your new resume for your review.
  2. You shall provide me with specific feedback on a call. (2nd call; 30-mins)

2nd Draft: 

  1. Based on our discussions, I’ll send you a revised copy (2nd draft). 
  2. By this time, I strongly believe we will be done or nearly done. I’ll quickly incorporate the remaining few inputs. 
  3. Voila! Your resume is ready. You release the remaining payment (Rs. 2,500-)

Still not satisfied? Fine, one last round (3rd draft)

  1. If you still think the resume needs many re-edits, I would work on the 3rd draft. 
  2. In the 3rd (and the last) 30-min call, we will try to understand where the resume is falling short and how best we can improve it. (3rd call; 30-mins)
  3. Together, we will work closely towards the 3rd draft. 
  4. Your resume is ready! You release the remaining payment (Rs. 2,500)

FAQs:

  1. What if I require more than 3 iterations?

For any resume, 3 iterations is more than adequate.

If we’re serious from the get go, it’s impossible we don’t arrive at a mutually-satisfactory resume by the 3rd iteration.

  1.  So you won’t agree for a 4th round? 

Yes. If 3 rounds don’t suffice, a few more iterations won’t do wonders either. 

It’s a waste of time, for me, and, more importantly, for you.

I would encourage you to be prepared with your homework, enabling us to speed up the resume-writing process. 

If you’re still unsatisfied with the 3rd iteration, we can call the project off. I’ll, however, retain the advance for my efforts thus far. 

  1. What’s the payment process?

Like I mentioned earlier, we’ll kickstart the project as soon as I receive the advance payment (Rs. 2,500/-)

The remaining payment can be made after the release of the final resume draft. (Rs. 2,500/-). So, the total payment is Rs. 5,000/-.
