Being my own light

“Success is becoming in middle adulthood what you dreamed to be in late childhood.” – Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

In the heady days of my graduation around 2006, I alongside my friends created a new website. We got our hands dirty with whatever primitive tools were available at that point. And given how central cinema was to the company we kept, we decided to post movie reviews. A secret none my friends knew (then and even today) was that I never saw the movies I reviewed. So much for all the little reputation I earned as a movie reviewer!

Given this head start, what happened to all the promise I showed? Well, life happened.

I had looked for signposts to progress. For guidance to show me the way. For a mentor to help me mend my ways. All in vain.

Until I realized that my lot could have been to become the person I needed when I was younger. To pave my path across virgin terrains that no one treaded before.

That my destiny was to become my own light.

After nearly two decades of storms and upheavals, it’s time I returned to what excited a younger me. After all, progress begins when the fear of not doing something at all surpasses the fear of doing it imperfectly. This, probably, is midlife clarity.

In this personal website, I aim to write about things that interests me. I would like to explore philosophy as it intersects with technology, marketing and life.
